"My mom used your [OneBrownGirl.com] site in a therapy session the other day (she's a therapist that counsels children and their families) and the young client's eyes just lit up!"

"Hi. I'm white and I just wanted to say thank you. It's so heartwarming to find a site that celebrates ethnicity without painting me as the bad guy. I would never hurt anyone just because of their color and for you to say you guys love everyone regardless of race... Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! P.S. I'm 15% Native American, which isn't much, so I guess I don't count as a blended girl but it does help me realize why heritage is so important. You rock! :) " Love and hugs,
Wendy
"I just discovered your website (tonight!) and was so overwhelmingly touched that I felt compelled to write you a note. An e-mail from BlackNews.com discussed your upcoming book. The book's title caught my eye and reminded me of what I hear daily. However, the title of the preface (My Life as an Oreo), stung like crazy, gave me butterflies and immediately transported me back to second grade on the playground where I was constantly defending myself from being picked on for being fair skinned and speaking differently. A link to your website was also provided. I was on that site for over an hour and yes, I clicked on EVERY LINK to see what was there! Your website provides a well-needed booster shot of positivity and possibility to many girls, young ladies and women. Kudos to you for doing what you do. I'm hating b/c I didn't think of it first (jk!). Great answers to the questions sent in... way to stay positive yet firm in your intent. Congrats on putting your message out there and many blessings and Godspeed on your future endeavors with this monster-to-be."

"Your concept is heartwarming and so necessary in this world. It brings a balance and wholeness this world needs. Yours is a gentle but strong awakening and opening of our collective consciousness; by helping one brown girl at a time you can change the whole world."

"Just wanted to drop you a quick note from a newly enamored customer. My sister surprised me with a 'Blessed Brown Girl' tee recently, and to say I was overjoyed at the concept is an understatement. What a fantastic idea; beautifully designed with such an empowering message. As a child growing up in Miami, I was taunted by the other children, 'ick, you're brown! Look at your skin, brownie, brownie.' My mother recounts stories to me of my returning home from school in tears wondering why I was being ostracized and denying my skin was really brown, but rather tan, like in the Crayon Box. (I actually held a crayon to my forearm to prove I was tan.) Fortunately, with the tremendous support of my accomplished Brown mother, acceptance and love of my skin color quickly took hold and I was able to defend myself of all the onslaughts to come. (The older I got, the fewer taunts I received. A steady stare-down was enough to scare of most bullies.) However, while that was over twenty years ago, I fear that there are still little Brown Girls everywhere receiving those same taunts. I wish them all a Brown Girl Tee to wear with pride. Thanks for giving us another way to celebrate."
